Boho Chic

If I could live in this Free People dress, I really would.  It's lose and comfortable but also beautiful.  I paired it with 2 different shoe options.  One for summer and the other as you transition into fall.  When it cools off you could also pair it with a fur vest.  Another jewelry option is putting a simple stud earrings and a fun choker!  There are so many options for styling this great dress! BTW, it comes in three different colors!

Fall Staples 2016

While shopping for myself and doing some personal shopping for some of my favorite clients, I have found some great fall staple pieces.  These are all perfect for me and my day-to-day life as a mom.  They keep feeling comfortable but getting me out of my usual, everyday yoga pants.

(1) BASIC LONG-SLEEVE TEES
This perfect tee comes in a wide assortment of colors.  I now have it in white, gray and maroon.  It is a simple long sleeve t-shirt with a little asymmetry that makes it different.

(2) SNEAKERS
These Dolce Vita sneakers are not only comfortable but really cute on!  I have worn mine with cut-offs, rolled jeans and even little t-shirt dresses! These each come in assorted colors.

(3) DENIM
I live in denim cut-offs in the summer and jeans in the fall.  AG is by far my favorite brand.  They fit me the best of any other.  These distressed black ones are some of my new favorites.  I got mine at Boem in Charlotte.

(4) T-SHIRT DRESSES
I have been LIVING in my Z Supply Camo Dress from Boem. It's comfy and I always get so many compliments when I wear it.  It's a win-win!

(5) VESTS
I love vests for fall and winter.  In Charlotte, quite often it doesn't get cold enough for a heavy jacket so a vest keeps me warm enough. I also love my arms not being constricted by a coat if I am running lots of errands and shopping for clients! They are very versatile and look great with a dress or tops and pants.

Fall Wish List 2016

1) EVERYDAY DRESSES
In the fall if I am not in my workout pants, I bet you'll see me in casual dresses and boots or booties.  My closet always has an abundance of dresses like these.  They are perfect if you are headed to Bible Study, a school meeting or coffee with a girlfriend. I feel dressed up but completely comfortable.

2) COZY SWEATERS
These speak for themselves. They are perfect with jeans, cutoffs or leggings.   I put the Anthro Swing Sweater on and didn't want to take it off!  I can't wait for it to start cooling off so I can wear it!
3) BOMBER JACKETS
I love that Bombers are everywhere again.  They are lightweight so they perfect for cool temps.  You find them at every price point AND everywhere from Target to Neiman Marcus.
4) FALL MAXIS
I so glad fall maxi dresses seem to be everywhere now.  If you pick a long sleeved one, just be careful of too much pattern with all of the fabric! These are just a sampling of my favorite Free People ones.

5) CHOKERS
I remember all of my fabulous chokers from the mid-90's.  I have seem some very similar in some stores that I have been browsing this season.  They can be worn casually during the day or for a fancy night on the town. Boem in Charlotte has a bunch of great ones!
6) DATE NIGHT OUTFITS
Fall time for me and Allen is filled with lots of fun date nights…from Oyster Roasts to Horror Movies and Haunted Houses to Mountain getaways. We celebrate my birthday and our Anniversary in October so it is sure to be a fun-filled month!

8) FALL BAGS
I tend to search for a good bag every couple of years.  I have a great one for Spring/Summer but I have just started the hunt for a Fall/Winter bag.  These 2 are someone my favorite so far. I'm pretty picky and don't rush the "process".  I'll keep you posted!

Chinese Chicken Salad

While we were at the beach last week, my cousin brought me a delicious salad from the restaurant where she works.  This was my attempt to recreate it.  I had everything prepared (shredded, chopped, diced etc…) in the morning and then simply tossed it all together for dinner. This recipe made enough salad for dinner for me and Allen and 2 additional lunches for me.
SALAD
Head of Napa Cabbage, shredded
1 cup purple cabbage, shredded
2 spring onions, chopped
3/4 cup shredded carrots
1/2 cup bean sprouts
1/2 cup cucumbers, diced
2 cups chicken, cooked and shredded
1/2 cup almonds, sliced and toasted
1/2 cup crispy asian noodles
2 tbsp sesame seeds, toasted
2 tbsp cilantro, finely chopped

Combine all ingredients in a large salad bowl.
GINGER VINAIGRETTE*
1 inch piece of fresh ginger, grated
2 garlic cloves, grated
4 tbsp soy sauce
4 tbsp rice vinegar
1 tbsp sesame oil
3 tbsp grape seed oil
2 tsp sugar
pepper to taste
* I double this dressing recipe for the large salads I made!
I put all of the dressing ingredients in my small food processor and pulsed to combine.  Then I put the dressing in a mason jar and placed it in the refrigerator to chill.  Just a note- make sure your grate the ginger and garlic over the container you are making the dressing in.  All of the yummy oils will add to the flavor of the dressing.  Shake well before tossing with salad.

Josephine

WEAR NOW>>>> WEAR LATER

This Cupcakes & Cashmere dress has been a staple piece this summer.  I am always on the hunt for the perfect LBD and LWD.  I got this one back in the Spring at Boem.  I just found it a Nordstrom Rack for 50% off!!  I will wear it into the fall with just a few changes.

I found a great olive Bomber jacket in the Boys section at Target while I was doing a little Back to School shopping with Jackson and Nat.  The Boys XL fit me perfectly.  I also linked the Women's Bomber from Target.  I added booties to make the look a little more "fall".  And the Twine & Twig Cowrie Collar still works perfectly!

CAULIFLOWER TACOS

I got this delicious recipe from Natalie at her blog designers bags and dirty diapers.  I have to admit that I was VERY hesitant.  I have never liked cauliflower- the raw texture honestly used to gross me out.  The way Natalie described them- I knew I had to try them!  AND we all know I love anything with Buffalo sauce on it!  I made just a few simple changes for us.  These are great for Meatless Mondays or Taco Tuesdays. You will not be sorry!

1 head of cauliflower, cut into small florets
1/4-1/3 cup Frank's Buffalo Wing Sauce
2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
1 tbsp garlic powder
Preheat oven to 425.  Toss cauliflower, butter, wing sauce and garlic powder in bowl until cauliflower is coated.  Place on tinfoil lined baking sheet and roast for 45 minutes, turning once halfway through with spatula.
Buffalo, roasted cauliflower
1 package small soft taco shells
1 can refried black beans, warmed
queso fresco, crumbled
2-3 ears corn, grilled
pickled purple onions
1 avocado, sliced
Sriracha Mayo
limes, sliced

Build your tacos and top with a little Sriracha mayo and a squeeze of lime juice on the top.
Enjoy!

Josephine
